Last Tuesday, Van Jones visited Sacramento in support of Johnson’s new green initiative. The initiative has five policy focus areas: energy, waste and recycling, water and nature, urban design and green building, and green and clean technology. Sacramento is a growing city and with that comes responsible growth, and equally as important the green initiative lays out extensive plans for job creation. The enthusiasm behind this initiative is reaching the diverse population in Sacramento. Come show your support for the mPOWER Placer Program on Tuesday, July 27, at 9:45 a.m. This is an opportunity for the Public to come out to voice their support for the strong momentum behind recently introduced federal legislation.
mPOWER Placer is a innovative program designed to provide financing for property owners to make energy efficiency retrofitting improvements to their property, such as energy efficient windows, high efficiency heating and air conditioning and solar systems. In addition to decreasing utility costs for property owners, the program was expected to provide a significant number of jobs for local contractors.
The Placer County Board of Supervisors will consider two resolutions regarding the mPOWER Placer Program. The Board meeting will be held at the Board of Supervisors Chambers, 175 Fulweiler Avenue in Auburn.

California Smart Grid Making Progress
California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) took a major step forward today to give consumers greater control over their electricity bills, create jobs and protect the environment. It voted to approve the environmental and consumer benefits that PG&E, Southern California Edison, and San Diego Gas and Electric must include in their smart grid plans.
